Roaring Fork
If anyone has ever been to the Roaring Fork Motor Trail in Gatlinburg TN, it is easy to recognize the white flowing water and luminescent glow of the moss covered rocks. It truly is a beautiful place that I personally can't wait to get back to and explore. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto
Hidden Waters
I often find myself taking a left turn when most others turn right. Traveling down the roads that most people often drive past typically yields the most beautiful images. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

Biltmore Blooms
Spring brings all the colors out and puts on a fantastic display of bright and amazing things. All these fantastic colors perfectly framed this small cascade on the road headed toward the Biltmore Estate. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

Hooker Dressed For Fall
I have always been told that you should never shoot a waterfall on a sunny day. I have never been much for following the rules so I used a graduated ND filter to help balance the sky and the sun shinning through on the left side of the frame. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto
Peace
This small section of the Davidson River that flows through Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC is one of my favorites spots to go and just hang out during the summer. There is a large clearing just to the left of the river ideal for a picnic or camping and the water is just deep enough down the river for a refreshing swim in the summer. Forward
Evertime I drive through Pisgah National Forest I find myself stopping and walking down the stairs down to Looking Glass Falls. On this particular day It was very sunny with no clouds at all, to help fight off the harsh sun I used a 10 stop ND filter for the desired effect and Im very happy with the results. Get Low
Crabtree Falls is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 339. Its a relatively easy 1.5 mile hike down to the falls. Find me on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto
Spring Flow
Got on the Parkway near Bent Creek in Asheville at 5:30 and I was quickly shrouded in the most dense fog I have ever experienced. That quickly transitioned to heavy rain, I pushed forward hoping it would clear for the sunrise at 6:30. As I passed Waterrock Knob I realized the I was not going to escape the fog and rain for sunrise. Turned up the music and settled in while I made my way to the Smokies. Still pouring the rain I turned into the first pull off along the Oconaluftee and to my surprise I was greeted to moutain laurel blooming across the river. I gathered my gear and framed the shot in the pouring rain and with this image I knew that this day was going to be worth the 2 hour drive in the clouds and rain. Ice Water
I always seem to find myself at Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah National Forest. We had an Ice storm come through Western North Carolina on 2-16-15. I decided to go to my favorite waterfall and see what beauty it had to offer. I slipped and slid my way down the icy path slightly slid into the water setting up this shot but after getting home and reviewing the images it was all worth it. Cornucopia
All summer long WNC was in near drought conditions with a lack of rain. Over the past week we have had rain just about everyday. The fall colors were in full display at Graveyard fields and the rain has provided a cornucopia of water in the riverbed. Water seemed to be flowing from every direction, even out of the woods as seen in the image above. It is funny how we always talk about drought and how bad things can get and then within a few days all the negative talk was almost literally washed away by steady rains. Spring Arrives
Sometimes the conditions are perfect for an image you have been looking for but your wardrobe isn't. Luckily I keep a pair of "mud shoes" in my trunk for this exact reason. I slammed on my brakes, rolled up my pants and said the hell with it :)
Roadside Beauty
The road into the Smokies from the Blue Ridge Parkway is filled with so much to look at and take in. This cascade is right off the side of the road and even has a pull off and two trails down to it for super easy access. I could spend weeks exploring that area, unfortunately I only had one day this go around. There will be more to come in the near future I'm sure. Slippery When Wet
I have never shot this angle looking down on the falls at Graveyard Fields. There has been a record breaking amount of rain here lately and the rocks reminded me on every slow and slippery step as i edged my way nervously to the edge of the rock to capture the scene. My tripod had two legs on a slippery rock and one in the current of the water and I stood timidly about 4 inches from the rushing water.. Sometimes shots are easy to come by, actually no they aren't. To capture something differently than the other 10 million people out there sometimes you have to get closure to the edge than you really feel comfortable with. Knee Deep
If you spend a lot of time in the woods, you have noticed that the rivers and creeks have been near empty this year due to lack of rain fall. The past week here in WNC has been filled with steady rain and some downpours. It is much needed and it has filled some of my favorite places with the sound of rushing water again. I was able to get knee deep into the pool with my camera about 6 inches from the surface of the water to capture this Ultra Wide angle shot of a now bursting with life small cascade off the side of a service road near Craggy Picnic area. Turbulence
The waters just outside Gatlinburg Tennessee were flowing more than usual due to the amount of rain we have had. There was also a passing storm on this day with wind and heavy fog, it made for a really dynamic image. I can not wait to get back out that way and see what else I can find. Spring Splendor
Winter seems to last forever here in WNC. So when spring finally arrives I can't wait to get my feet wet in a small stream or river. These scenes calm me and I generally capture them just so I can surround myself with them hanging them in my own house. The brilliant green and dark oranges have always drawn me in, Mix fog in with that and you will almost always find me in the middle of it all :) Find me on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto
The Swirl
Just down a well traveled trail at the Living Waters Ministries you come across a rock formation shaped like a stack of pancakes. The rock face down to the falls is a bit tricky to navigate but once you get down there the beauty of the falls makes it worth it. On this day the sun was shining brightly and ruining my image. I decided to leave but on my way home I noticed some large clouds headed back in the direction from which I was leaving. I decided to turn back around and see if in fact the clouds would temporarily soften the harsh light from the sun. I arrived back at the location and slipped my way back down to position, for around 10 minutes I was able to shoot this scene and it made all the driving and hiking in and out completely worth it!
