  • October Skies

    October Skies

After a week of rain, high winds and flooding the parkway here in Western North Carolina opened back up. I rushed after work to get to one of my favorite unmarked spots on the side of the road in hopes that the sunset would put on a show. I was not disappointed at all! With the few storm clouds still hanging around and the fall foliage really starting to show through everything came together for the perfect image. Scattered

The entire sunset was covered by an enormous cloud system. Just as the sun began to fall the clouds began to scatter and light up! Find me on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • The Awakening

    The Awakening

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a morning person at all. But this morning I decided to live outside of my bubble and wake up at 5:30 on my day off and head up to the parkway with the hopes of nature putting on a show for me. Well lets just say I was not disappointed at all. This was the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen and Im more than happy I decided to peel myself out of bed this morning. • Just A Peek

    Just A Peek

As a photographer I would say the most important thing to bring with you on every shoot is patience. I arrived at this spot about 3 hours before sunset. Listened to music and set up various angles to see which one I liked the most. I got my composition down and then I waited. The clouds continued to flow through the scene and my hope was that for one moment everything would align. This image was just that moment. A small break in the clouds allowed the sun to peek through just for a second.

  • What Still Remains

    What Still Remains

Snow was the official forecast, Mother Nature had another plan for our day. We got quite the ice storm which for the most part shut down WNC. I waited until around 1 to venture out and most of the roads had been cleared. This is on of my favorite spots on Ox Creek just before you reach the Blue Ridge Parkway. • Golden Beginnings

    Golden Beginnings

We are all patiently waiting for spring to arrive here in Western North Carolina. This morning I woke up to a storm rolling in and temps already in the 60's. I decided to take the long way to work and head up to the parkway in hopes that the clouds would break enough for the sun to shine through. I arrived about ten minutes before sunrise and shortly after everything started light up for me. Find me on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • Golden Hour

    Golden Hour

The last few weeks of Autumn put on a beautiful display of color. This particular dirt road in Pisgah National forest was lit up brilliantly by the setting sun. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • Destination Unknown

    Destination Unknown

I drive past this spot almost daily but on this morning the fog in the field and bright orange from the rising sun compelled me to stop and document it. Since then it has been my favorite image and what compelled me to get into landscape photography. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • The Crossing

    The Crossing

I set out this morning at 5a.m. with a goal in mind.... I descended down my preselected trail at the Beacon Heights Overlook. I hiked up and down the winding trail until I finally arrived at my target destination. Just to the left of this image is the under side of the Linn Cove Viaduct and although that was my original intention the footbridge directly underneath it ended up stealing the show. • Daydream

    Daydream

I felt like I was walking around in a constant daydream, the beauty this city has at every turn is amazing. As the sun started to fall I found a location between two live oaks with beautiful blooming flowers in the foreground. I feel like this picture sums up Savannah perfectly.

  • Unto These Hills

    Unto These Hills

I often times find myself with other photographers at certain locations but I'm usually facing the opposite direction as everyone else. This sunset was no different, everyone else was fixated on the setting sun and I was facing away from it. The light from the sunset perfectly illuminated the beautiful shapes and textures of the mountains. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • Beyond The Clouds

    Beyond The Clouds

As I was driving home through the clouds on the parkway I rounded a turn and the fog broke, opening the sky valley and sky up to the beautiful scene above. Sometimes you spend hours scouting a location and sometimes you just happen across something beautiful, on this night I was lucky. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • Linn Cove Viaduct

    Linn Cove Viaduct

This Picture has been done probably 10 million times but this is the first and only time I've ever been and I felt like I should share my own image of the famous Viaduct. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • Timeless

    Timeless

I arrived at this location about 1 hour before the sun came up. Judging by where the sky was brightening the horizon I had a pretty good idea of where the sun would come up. I spent some time setting up my composition and then I waited. The sun only stayed in that spot for maybe 10 seconds. I knew once I pushed the shutter button that this was they shot. • Burning Desire

    Burning Desire

This picture is a prime example of the benefit of my personal desire to chase the light and find the perfect scene. I drove over 2.5 hours to this particular overlook in hopes that all the conditions would be perfect for a sunset over the ever changing mountains I live in. • Summers End

    Summers End

Summers transition into fall is my favorite time of the year by far. The showcase of color is usually first found at this spot, Graveyard Fields on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

    The Mist Rises

Sometimes fog slowly creeping up a mountain side as a storm rolls over is just as beautiful as a clear and sunny day. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • Reflecting

    Reflecting

The long white bridge at Magnolia Plantation is probably the most photographed thing at the plantation. With that being said I still felt the need to get my own version of the famous bridge. The flowers to either side of it weren't quite bloomed while I was there, but the glass like water and warm tones provided by the rising sun made the scene just as beautiful even without them. Pastel Palette

On this chilly winter night on the parkway the sky and mountains lit up in a very Pastel color palette illuminating the entire scene in these beautiful hues. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto

  • No Trespassing

    No Trespassing

I often find myself walking down the trails at the Biltmore Estate that say "No guests beyond this point". More times than not they don't lead to anything spectacular. Although last night that wasn't the case, the road led me to a magnificent sunset over a corn field. Find Me On Facebook Here: www.facebook.com/jaskewphoto
